Add widgets to an investigation

You can create a new widget or duplicate an existing one.

Add a widget

To add a widget, follow these steps:

  1. Open an investigation.

  2. If available, navigate to the chapter to which you want to add the widget.

  3. Click Add widget.

    The widget selection dialog opens.

  4. Select a widget type.

    The widget configuration dialog opens.

  5. You can enter a name and a description.

    • If you don't set a name, the name is set depending on the configuration type in the next step: If you configure a metric, the metric name is shown. In any other case, the widget type is used as the name.

    • When you enter a description, it is available to users as info text.

  6. If available, select a configuration type under Widget type:

    Some widgets don't support all features. Read more in section Limitations on widgets.

  7. Depending on the selected configuration type, specify the required options.

  8. Click Save.

    The widget is added to the investigation.

Duplicate a widget

Follow these steps:

  1. Open your investigation and find the widget you want to duplicate.

  2. Click in the widget title and select Duplicate.

    The widget is copied and added next to or below the original widget.

Configuration types

For all widgets, you can specify a name and description. Some widget types have further configuration options which are listed here:

Attribute-based configuration

You select the data to display with attributes and further processing functions.

For example:

  • aggregation input

  • aggregation function

  • grouping options

  • interval

Which attributes and functions are available depends on the widget type.

SiGNAL-based configuration

You insert a SiGNAL query in the code editor.

In the widget configuration dialog, the following display options are available:

  • Preview - Preview the results of your query and choose the chart type

  • Data view - View the query results in a table

  • SiGNAL view - Show the SiGNAL query

    In this view, you can select the SiGNAL code and copy it to the clipboard with Ctrl+C for Windows or ⌘ + C for Mac.

Metric-based configuration

Select one or more metrics.

All metrics that were added to the process are available here, read more in section Add metrics to a process.

In the widget configuration dialog, the following display options are available:

  • Preview - Preview the results of your query and choose the chart type

  • Data view - View the query results in a table

  • SiGNAL view - Show the SiGNAL query

    In this view, you can select the SiGNAL code and copy it to the clipboard with Ctrl+C for Windows or ⌘ + C for Mac.

Users with the manager role can edit metrics in the process settings. Read more in section Edit and delete metrics.

Depending on the widget type, further configuration options are available, for example the unit in the Value widget or the bar style in the Breakdown widget.
